This year - 2009 - marks 10 years since Tania and I first arrived to Argentina's northwest as full-time missionaries. What a joy it was to labor among the kindest of people inside the region's most humble communities. Our time in Salta left an everlasting impression on our lives...and the lives of others.
Unfortunately, today's news reports from Salta indicate a massive mudslide has devastated the town of Tartagal in the northern limits of the province (outside Bolivia). More than 10,000 residents have been evacuated following torrential rainfall...which swept away a principle bridge in town.
We know that many of our friends back home are quite familiar with this area. I clearly recall such rainstorms in the north, often flooding villages and toppling makeshift homes. May we pray for the safety of those affected in Tartagal...a region often overlooked.

Holy cow, ten years! Were we really little freshman at BYU 11 years ago? Any trips to the US planned? I am sure Dallin and Daniel would love playing with each other.
Wow, that's so sad! I only did a tormenta blanca there once, and that was it, so I don't have any ties with that area, but tragic all the same.
(p.s. I totally remember Tania stopping our tracting so we could get a picture with those two cute old ladies. HA!)
I never got the chance to visit Tartagal...I'm sure the Lord is looking after his children...
Can you find out if the Mission up there is doing anything as far as raising money etc...I'm sure all of us here in the states could raise some money and with the exchange rate we could really help out alot of people...even if that means paying you to travel up there and personally assisting?...
wow that is horrible! we will definitely keep them in our prayers. I never hit up quite that north in the mish .
